Originally from Vancouver, Sunny Shao is currently pursuing her MBA at the Schulich School of Business at York University, specializing in Entrepreneurial Studies, Strategy and Marketing.

Prior to returning to complete her MBA, Sunny worked as a strategic marketing and communications professional in the manufacturing and financial services industries.  Throughout her experience at an independent investment dealer headquartered in Vancouver, she gained a solid understanding of the Canadian capital markets and the securities regulatory environment.

Sunny is also the Social Media Director of the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Club at Schulich, whose mission is to nurture, inform, and inspire the entrepreneurial Schulich community.

She has been following the crowdfunding movement since 2010 and sees a lot of potential for merging business, philanthropy and the arts through this growing trend.

    I recently met Sunny at a Toronto start-up social event…one wonders why Ms. Shao would leave “sunny” Vancouver for “cool” Toronto…perhaps Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital is moving east?…A warm welcome to Sunny…let the socializing begin :)
